Night skyline - downtown Vancouver

Dark and still
Is all I see.
But the night is not so silent
Though it seems to be.
There is a mother aroused
Because her baby stirred.
There is a lover awake
With his desires unfulfilled.
A future scholar burns her oil
In thirst for eternal light.
A surprise heir tosses in bed
Over the sudden limelight.
Some are paid to keep wakeful
And stay on-guard at night.
While some like me stay guarded
So as not to miss the sight.
Cloaked by the sky, but alive and awake
And right above me is the dream country.
So the night is not so silent
Though it seems to be. ~ H

Jellyfish almost always make for exquisite photography - the more deadly, the more divine :D
This stunning red jelly is one of the most striking I have seen. It is some kind of a deep sea jelly fish that emits bioluminescence. I wasnt able to find out the name though. The image was screen-captured from an astounding BBC video called 'The Blue Planet'.

The preamble
I dont claim to know a speck of professional photography - I cant. But partly by experience and mostly by fluke, I have learnt that a "wow" photograph does not always need a "wow" camera. Almost all of the photographs in this blog have been taken with my unpretentious, outmoded canon powershot.
According to me, a good photograph only needs you to :-
* have a purpose and know it.
* focus/wait/tilt/jump/scream/stand-upside-down/make-people-around-you-mad till there are no extraneous, distracting objects in the background.
* zoom in or out just the right amount.
* know if you have the right amount of lighting. (Now, what amount is "right amount"? I wouldnt know... rather, I dont :D)
* Shoot!
The simple rule: Click when you like what you see.
Happy clicking, people!
